Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between Dyson model names?
There are a ton of different Dyson vacuum (and even hair-tool) models and qualifiers that follow their names, such as Absolute, Plus, Animal, and Extra. If you get tripped up on these words, that’s understandable. These naming conventions almost always have to do with the attachments that are included. Any name with Absolute following it usually includes the highest number of attachments, while a Plus comes with a smaller number. The attachments can be useful if you’re trying to clean a variety of spaces, like in a house (that crevice tool, for instance, gets into tough nooks and crannies; the soft brush tool is excellent for dusting surfaces you don’t want to scratch). If you’re trying to clean a smaller, simpler space, having all those attachments on hand may not be necessary. Slim usually refers to the vacuum being lightweight.
What is Dyson’s return policy?
Dyson products can be returned within 30 days of receipt for a full refund, with shipping costs covered by the company. However, if purchased through third-party retailers like Walmart or Amazon, the return policy will follow their guidelines. Walmart allows returns within 90 days, and refurbished items generally have a 30-day window. At Amazon, most returns fall under its standard 30-day policy.
What is Dyson’s warranty?
Dyson offers a two-year warranty on cordless vacuums, fans, heaters, humidifiers, and hair tools purchased from the company directly; its five-year warranty applies to corded vacuums, hand dryers, and lights. This covers repair and replacement if your product breaks within the warranty window. If you’re buying through a third-party retailer, be sure that the seller is authorized, and hold on to your receipt because you’ll need proof of ownership when you try to register through Dyson.
Does Dyson do trade-ins?
Not as far as I can find. Dyson does sometimes run trade-in events where you can take 20% off select tech when you trade in a vacuum, hair care tool, fan, or purifier of any brand. It similarly has Owner Rewards events where existing owners can apply a promo code to another Dyson product. As far as an official trade-in policy, however, the answer is technically no, they do not.
