And no, we're not talking about biker boots.

Expect to see belted boots everywhere in 2026. The fashionable alternative to moto and biker styles is just starting to trend now and will surely be widespread by the new year.

As fashionable outfits become increasingly minimalist, it seems accessories have become more and more gritty in response. Special, unexpected details are appearing on shoes and bags, turning them into the main character of an outfit. Like a simple cardigan paired with furry pumps, for example, or a classic miniskirt with super-tall, super-slouchy boots.

And this winter it's all about playing with different shades and styles, finding the line where traditional meets contemporary to create a new balance of similarities and contrasts. Among the must-haves in the modern-day fashionista’s wardrobe, it’d be impossible not to mention boots in every variation. From biker to equestrian styles, we thought we’d seen every type of boot possible. But the runways and street style have shown us, once again, that fashion is a constant surprise.

Now belted boots are the latest obsession taking over the trend cycle.

As the name suggests, these boots are characterized by a strap of any kind. Thin or thick, with a big gold buckle or something more subtle, placed near the instep or along the leg…it doesn’t matter as long as the belt exists. The belt adds a touch of delicate but gritty elegance to the shoe regardless of whether it’s a single, minimalist strap or tripled for a more assertive, edgy effect.

Flat belted boots

Look for knee-high, flat belted boots in the hues of the moment: black and brown, whether that's chocolate or caramel. In terms of style, however, there is more flexibility: Maximalist styles that have two, three, or more large straps along the shaft are just as trendy as less obvious details.

Belted boots with heels

Belted boots with heels offer another alternative for dressing up. The strap with these, however, is more often thin and less biker looking. We’re seeing it placed at knee height, near the instep, or along the leg.

Belted ankle boots

Fashionistas know: Ankle boots are the one of the most versatile shoes of a wardrobe, now and forever. Wear them with leggings and jeans, or dresses and miniskirts—it doesn’t matter. If you want to stand out in 2026, however, find a version with a belt or two.
