Australian ingenue Yerin Ha is ready for her close-up. Previously a working but mostly unknown actor, Ha is now the lead female love interest on the upcoming new season of Bridgerton, a position that made stars out of Phoebe Dynevor, Simone Ashley, and Nicola Coughlan before her. And she’s already nailing her first assignment as a leading lady: Look cute on the press tour.

For a recent appearance on The View with costar Luke Thompson, Ha wore a blindingly white coat with an over-the-shoulder scarf. The sculptural element of the garment looks equal parts windswept and runway-ready. The peep-toe shoes (a style that’s slowly but surely making its way back into the limelight), pink manicure, and rosy blush on her cheeks add more subtle feminine touches. After all, she is the season’s sweetie.

“Elegant princess” is also the phrase that came to mind when looking at her gown for the season’s premiere event two weeks prior. The bejeweled Prada robin’s-egg blue gown with a train (a train!), the halter neck, and the youthful glow…anyone else reminded of Princess Diana on the cover of Vanity Fair?

Yerin Ha’s sudden ascent in the celebrity world mirrors her character’s arc this season, which is—minor spoiler?—based on the tale of Cinderella. In the Bridgerton version, the maid meets her prince (well, her rich guy) at a masked ball, and having only her lower face visible presented a unique challenge to the show’s makeup designer, Nic Collins. Collins laid out her game plan to Glamour, explaining, “Obviously, you lose the eyes behind a mask, so we had to think about how you’re still going to have the light reflecting through the eyes. Even just putting the little rose to the balm on her lips…Yerin’s got such beautiful lips. Just that little bit of makeup that pops, the flush of the cheek. We really focused on the lips so that they really popped out with this sparkling mask.”

For the lips specifically, Collins said, “We used the Clinique Chubby Sticks because they are so sheer, but they have a really good color. The Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry with Roly Poly Rosy as the final coat. We layered up the tones to get that little punch at the end, and then used the Sleek MakeUp Locked Up Super Precise Lip Liner in Friend Zone very, very gently applied. It’s kind of a no-lip line, but it just really picks up. It’s as close to the lip shades as possible. So you’re really just punching up that edge shape to really show that pout in the middle, and then using a little bit of the base around the outside.” BRB, doing this for my next masquerade.
