Britney Spears is pregnant with her first child with fiancé Sam Asghari (or is it husband now?). After being freed from her 13-year conservatorship in November 2021, the pop star has been keeping fans updated on her life frequently via Instagram, and she announced the big news on April 11.
Getting pregnant was a goal Spears previously said her conservatorship had kept her from pursuing. “I wanted to take the IUD out so I could start trying to have another baby,” Spears told the court while petitioning to end the conservatorship in June 2021. “But they don’t want me to have…any more children. So basically, this conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life.”
Thankfully, it seems Britney Spears is getting exactly what she wanted. Here's everything we know.
“I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️,” Spears started her announcement. “I thought ‘Geez … what happened to my stomach ???’ My husband said ‘No you’re food pregnant silly 🤪 !!!’ So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby.”
In her announcement, Spears also shared that she experienced perinatal depression during her earlier pregnancies. “Women didn’t talk about it back then,” she wrote. “Some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her…but now women talk about it every day…thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret!”
She added, “This time I will be doing yoga 🧘♀️ every day!!!”

Spears shares her 16-year-old son Sean and her 15-year-old son Jayden with ex-husband Kevin Federline. Now it's time for baby number three…or maybe three and four? “If 2 are in there … I might just loose it [sic],” she joked in her announcement.
On Sunday, April 24, Spears shared on her Instagram account that she will be taking a break from social media “for a little while.” We're not sure how long a little while means: She could be back next week or in nine months.
“I'm going on a social media hiatus for a little while!!!” she wrote. “I send my love and God bless you all.”
