Is that a supermodel from the ’90s walking down the streets of Manhattan? Nope, it’s actually Gabrielle Union in February 2026 with a fresh pixie cut. If you were wondering if the pixie cut was a flash-in-the-pan kind of trend or something with a little more legs, we say go ahead and put Union’s new cut in the latter column.
On February 4 the Bring It On actor was photographed in a blazer and leather pants, with her newly cropped hair worn in a deep side part with some heavy bangs and plenty of volume. The day before, to complement her gray blazer dress, Union’s pixie cut was brushed out slightly so that it looked almost bob-like.
It’s not the first time Union has played around with short hair. As recently as May 2025 she was rocking a chin-length blunt bob before returning to longer styles.
The pixie, however, is a totally different animal from a bob. And it has been enjoying a little moment in the sun lately.
Keke Palmer debuted a brand-new pixie cut for her birthday in August 2025, and even Kim Kardashian experimented with a pixie do for Paris fashion week in October 2025. That same month Zoë Kravitz showed off a mini-bob at the 2025 Academy Museum Gala, which was short enough to nearly qualify as a pixie.
We perhaps have Emma Stone to thank for today’s pixie trend. She has popularized a soft, slightly grown-out version of the pixie that is sometimes known as the Tinkerbell cut. Union’s pixie, with its long choppy layers, is more akin to the Christy cut, so named for ’90s supermodel Christy Turlington, which is an even longer version of the pixie cut that is also trending this year.
Altogether, we can say pretty confidently that the pixie is here to stay. At least for a while.
