We live in an age of reboots and reunions. From Batman (welcome, Robert Pattinson!) and Will & Grace to Fuller House and Queer Eye, it feels like no TV show or movie franchise is ever really over.
But one has remained elusive: Friends. The final episode of the show's 10-season run aired in 2004, but a new generation discovered Rachel, Ross, Monica, Joey, Chandler, and Phoebe on Netflix. Its popularity only seems to grow bigger and bigger and with it fans' desire to see the original cast back together again onscreen.
Jennifer Aniston added more fuel to the fire during her most recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, during which she said, "Listen, I told you this: I would do it. The girls would do it. And the boys would do it, I’m sure.
"Anything could happen," she added. "I could do it by myself." DeGeneres joked that it would just be called Friend and that she could play Aniston's next-door neighbor.
Watch the clip below, in which Aniston also explains the story behind a throwback photo of the cast that Courteney Cox recently posted on Instagram. It was taken before the show ever aired, when Friends director James Burrows flew the cast to Las Vegas, gave them a couple hundred dollars each, and told them to enjoy the casino because it was going to be the last time they could ever enter a room like that anonymously—and he was right.
This isn't the first time Jennifer Aniston has hinted at a possible reunion with Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer. "Anything is a possibility, Ellen,” she told DeGeneres last year. “Anything! Right? I mean, George Clooney got married! That’s like anything can happen. I think it’s wonderful.”

But Schwimmer and Kudrow have both been less than positive about getting the gang back together at Central Perk. “I doubt it—I really doubt it,” Schwimmer said in a 2018 interview. “Look, the thing is, I just don’t know if I want to see all of us with crutches [and] walkers." And Kudrow jokingly told Conan O'Brien, "They're rebooting everything. I don't know how that works with Friends, though. That was about people in their 20s, 30s. The show isn't about people in their 40s, 50s. And if we have the same problems, that's just sad."
But as long as Aniston keeps saying there's a chance, we're holding out hope—and rewatching the, "We Were on a Break!" episode for the 10,000th time on Netflix.
