Need a way to brighten up the gloomy days of fall and winter? According to Jennifer Garner, warming up your hair color can do the trick.
On November 13, Garner debuted a new shade at the International Medical Corps Annual Awards in Beverly Hills. While we’re used to the actor’s signature soft chestnut brown, especially at her roots, her new look is a few steps warmer all over. It even appears to bring in some subtle red undertones (although it’s possible we’re projecting nostalgia for her iconic Alias wig).
Along with the new base color, Garner added subtle caramel highlights and medium-length face-framing layers. Last night’s look, styled with soft glossy waves, also made a strong case for the return of the side part.
While Garner’s current look is blonder than usual, she’s still in “bronde’ territory.” But the actor has experimented with lighter looks with her go-to hairstylist, Tracey Cunningham. Over the summer, Cunningham shared the sun-streaked “ready-for-summer blonde” treatment she gave Garner for a role. Her November color is a bit more blended—the perfect happy medium between her classic brunette and high-definition highlights.

If you’re toying with a lighter shade for winter, Garner’s latest is the perfect inspiration. It feels fun and festive for the holidays—plus, it’s a low-maintenance take on a blonde transition for the months you’d rather hunker down than plan around root touch-ups.
