You’ve heard about day-to-night dressing but what about day-to-more-day? On January 9, Jennifer Lawrence served double the wardrobe inspiration with just one adjustment.
During an outing in New York City, Lawrence was photographed looking effortlessly cool as ever in a pair of wide-leg oat sweatpants, which she elevated for potential paparazzi sightings with a Jacquemus leopard faux-fur coat and a brown suede bag, the ultimate trump card of winter 2025—2026. Of course, it wouldn’t be a J.Law look without an unexpected pop of color and texture, which she achieved with a pair of turquoise blue ostrich leather slipper flats by Khaite, which retail for $1,980.
While this vibrant shoe is a big switch-up from the basic tall Uggs she wore earlier in the week, they’re right in line with her favorite footwear silhouette for spring. If there’s a luxury leather flat on the market that molds to the foot with zero arch support and a barely there sole, chances are Lawrence has a pair in her closet.

That look would be enough to spark an entire essay on dressing up sweatpants for public consumption, but Lawrence had other plans. Later in the day, she switched out her cozy pants and wore a relaxed pair of dark denim for a bike ride, showing off the cerulean socks she wore to keep her feet warm in her flats.
That was probably a smart move, considering the sweatpants pooled under the actor’s shoes and might have gotten caught on the bike’s gears. Safety should always come first, which is why I must Karen out for a second and beg Jennifer Lawrence to put on her helmet next time.
Lack of proper headgear aside, Lawrence’s second look proved sweatpants and jeans are practically interchangeable this spring when paired with the right footwear and accessories. Aside from a bike ride, I can’t think of a single thing Lawrence could do in her relaxed ’90s jeans during the day that she can’t accomplish in her sweats. And don’t say “go to the office” unless you’d wear turquoise ostrich flats and leopard fur to your workplace.
Properly thought-out accessories are key for a well put-together casual outfit.
