Kelly Clarkson is known for her incredible covers, but her latest might just be her best one yet. During her Meaning of Life tour show in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Friday, February 15, the singer took on Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's smash-hit "Shallow" from their Oscar-nominated movie, A Star Is Born—and her rendition will give you straight-up chills.
Clarkson's no stranger to an incredible live performance or a good cover—she's covered everyone from Adele to Rihanna—but this performance was something else. Clarkson introduced the song by praising Gaga and sharing how much she appreciates her as an artist.
“I love artists. I know there’s a lot of competition always with artists in the industry, but there’s a lot of us that just dig each other and really get inspired by each other and what they’re doing," she told the audience. "And this chick is amazing. We’re really different, but at the same time, we’re really similar in the fact that she just loves music, and that’s why she’s doing what she’s doing."
Clarkson then told the crowd a story about the time Gaga wrote Clarkson a handwritten letter to thank her for performing together. "She was the nicest human being ever. Her name is Lady Gaga," she said. "It's so cool to know that someone that talented is so nice."
