The Met Gala red carpet just started, but Lady Gaga—one of the first people to walk it—has already won it.
Sure, maybe, maybe someone else will be able to top her interpretation of this year's theme, "Camp: Notes on Fashion." But it'll be tough—not just because this feels custom-made for Mama Monster, who's appropriately serving as a cochair for the event, but because she pulled off three full outfit changes as she arrived at the Met Gala. Right there, on the carpet.
Gaga's entrance can best be described as an incredible piece of performance art, created in conjunction with designer Brandon Maxwell. There were not one, not two, not three, but four looks. Can you hear us screaming?
Accompanied by dancers with umbrellas, Gaga entered the carpet in a voluminous hot pink dress with a train for days. The gentlemen accompanying the pop star and actress fluffed up like a parachute in gym class as she made her way up the steps.
Then, after making her way back down the stairs, Gaga pulled a quick switch. With the help of Maxwell, she removed the pink gown to reveal another dress—this one black and strapless—underneath.
You'd think that would be it—but no: Gaga removed the black dress to reveal a fuchsia column dress underneath.
She then grabbed some bedazzled sunglasses and a black cellphone, and posed for more photos.
Then, then! She stripped down once again—this time, to her skivvies.
She showed off her sparkling black lingerie, fishnet stockings, and sky-high heels, as well as a custom wagon with "Haus of Gaga" written on the side.
Twitter, rightfully, lost its collective mind.
