Margot Robbie has officially left Barbieland behind—and all the icy blonde dye jobs that came along with it. The actor’s “Wuthering Heights” press tour has delivered dark romantic fashion, gothic glam, windswept waves, and a new hair color we’re calling as one of spring’s biggest trends: Brontë blonde.
Robbie’s current color was created by Schwarzkopf Professional’s U.S. Hair Color Trend Ambassador Jacob Schwartz—who was also responsible for her brighter “Barbie blonde” press tour looks. “When I’m highlighting, it’s all about strategic placement of shadow and light; (I think of it like a painting),” he recently shared on Instagram, referencing a similar color treatment to Robbie’s. “Keeping depth through the interior while brightening around the face and where the natural light (or flash) hits. Giving the hair gloss, movement, and dimension.”
While it fits right into a period piece, Brontë blonde also aligns with some of the year’s biggest color trends. “In 2026, hair color is leaning toward rich, natural shades,” celebrity stylist Nick Stenson previously told Glamour. “Think warm blondes paired with low-maintenance techniques like balayage and shadow roots.”
Margot Robbie’s current color incorporates face-framing brightness at the mid-lengths and ends of her front pieces, rather than the roots. This technique supports a seamless grow-out, similar to the color-melting trend, which acts as a happy medium between highlights and balayage. Unlike high-contrast streaks or a one-tone dye job, this hand-painting technique “creates a seamless blend of tones with no harsh lines,” Stenson says.
Looking for a low-commitment way to brighten up your hair for spring? Brontë blonde is the way to go. Robbie’s strategically placed butter-blonde sections do the heavy lifting, while her roots and under-layers (many thanks to this well-timed gust of wind for a closer look) stay a warm, natural bronde. In line with Emerald Fennel’s adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, this look is timeless, romantic, and modern all at once.
