Olandria Carthen, never apologize!
After her other half, Nic Vansteenberghe, showed up on the Grammys red carpet, fans naturally wondered if she was close behind. Shortly thereafter the Love Island alum tweeted “I’m sad I feel like I let y’all down but mama gotta work,” seemingly referring to her absence at the show.

Her fans mobbed her replies, reminding the model that she could never let down the true heads. Carthen also took to Instagram, uploading a quartet of glamorous selfies taken at the airport to her Stories. Her only context was to write, “Working,” with the airplane emoji.
On the Grammys red carpet, Vansteenberghe echoed what Carthen told her fans online when he was asked about her whereabouts—he just made it sound slightly more mysterious than just “work.” Vansteenberghe told People that Carthen had to work, but also that he’d be in big trouble if he said what she was working on. “Well, I don’t want to disclose,” he answered, rather evasively. “She’s busy working right now. Or else she would be here.” He agreed it was a “secret project” and added laughing, “She told me she’d whoop me if I told.”
Carthen has been in Paris for Haute Couture Week, where she’s been stealing attention, frankly, from the collections. At Rahul Mishra she all but stopped traffic with her gilded sculptural heart dress, styled with a slicked back bob. Or “bixie,” that is, which she debuted on social media. Now that Haute Couture Week is over, it seems the former Love Islander is already on to the next project—which does not involve walking the red carpet at the 2026 Grammys.
