Olandria Carthen is keeping us on our toes at Paris Fashion Week. After stepping out in a showstopping sculptural gold ensemble for the Rahul Mishra show yesterday, she just debuted a trendy new haircut.
Celebrity makeup artist Ngozi Edeme (@paintedbyesther) shared the first snaps of Carthen’s new cut—and character: Ola Boop, as her caption dubbed the Love Island USA alum. And she’s right on the money: With a wispy bixie cut, babydoll blush, and lashes for days, Carthen looks like a modern day Betty Boop. Let’s get her cast in a live-action adaptation, stat!

The bixie haircut (halfway between a bob and a pixie), has been having a moment on red carpets recently, with celebs like Emma Stone, Gracie Abrams, and Quinta Brunson hopping on the trend. The cut is less structured than the close-cropped pixie and allows enough length for flattering face-framing pieces and flicked-out ends like Carthen’s. Also proven by Ola Boop: It pairs beautifully with bangs.
Need further proof that this trendy cut is flattering on everyone? Hairstylist Jennifer Korab says that it works on a wide range of hair types: “Fine hair can get soft, airy movement with piece-y layers, while thicker or wavier textures can be shaped close to the head for that sleek, modern silhouette.” When styling at home, she recommends investing in a lightweight texturizing cream or mousse for volume, followed by a soft matte pomade to define the layers.
Safe to say, we can’t wait to see how our holiday cover star dresses up her new cut this fashion month. While she previously told Glamour that that she’s “still trying to get used to being in the spotlight,” we’ve always been convinced that high fashion and Olandria Carthen are a match made in heaven.
