Sadie Sink will do a lot for a role, but mess with her signature ginger hair? Please, that’s what wigs are for.
“I’ve thought about it, but I’ve never dyed my hair,” the Stranger Things star told Glamour for her cover story. “Anyone who has red hair knows the ups and downs of your relationship with it. Sometimes you’re like, ‘Yes, I love my hair. It’s the best thing ever.’ And then sometimes you’re like, ‘Oh my God, I hate it. I just want to change it.’”
She continued, “But no matter where you stand, what you hear your entire life as a redhead is to never dye your hair…. So I never have, and I don’t think I will. I like the idea that my hair isn’t dyed.”
And really, can you imagine her as a blonde or brunette? It just seems wrong somehow.
In fact, Sink told Glamour she prefers keeping herself a bit of a blank slate, revealing, “I don’t have any piercings or tattoos or anything.… I like the idea of never doing anything.” Sounds as if there may be room in the market for an upscale line of clip-on earrings, and she could be its celebrity face—just saying…
Sadie Sink, now a Tony Award nominee for John Proctor Is the Villain, is also aware of the power of looking like herself in an industry that prizes an ever-shifting appearance. “Nowadays it’s hard to ignore how much people change looks and fashion, and all of that has blended into actors and the entertainment industry,” she told Glamour. “Growing up in that, and actively being a part of that, is a little bit confusing sometimes because it’s like, ‘Wait, what? Are we all supposed to look like this? Is this what everyone wants us to look like?’ I don’t want to do that.”
There are many sides to Sadie Sink, and she’s gotten really good at keeping most of them private. But now, as Stranger Things comes to a close and the actor is on the verge of new heights of fame, she's opening up about what comes next.
