Kate Hudson and Elle Fanning Confirm Silver, Not Gold, Is the Metallic of 2026

More like the Silver Globes, amirite?

The Golden Globes feels like a bit of a misnomer this year, actually, since we saw a lot more silver than gold on the red carpet ahead of the 2026 awards ceremony. Like, a lot more. And we’re not just talking about jewelry—although there was a lot of silver jewelry as well. Primarily, we’re talking about the shiny, sparkly, glittery metallic silver dresses worn on the red carpet by many of the night’s buzziest stars. (We see you, newcomer and One Battle After Another star, Chase Infiniti!) Kylie Jenner, who attended the ceremony with Timothée Chalamet, didn’t even walk the red carpet, but she still got in on the silver-red-carpet trend.

Some of the gowns, such as Kate Hudson’s shimmering column dress, Sinners star Jayme Lawson’s gathered sheath, and Elle Fanning’s sequined A-line, were entirely silver. But just as many dresses, including Infiniti’s sculptural mirrored frock, Leighton Meester’s color-blocked dress, and Minnie Driver’s stripes, were more about the silver embellishments. Either way, Glamour knows a trend when we see one.

Is it too early to say that silver supremacy over gold is the metallic trend of the year? Possibly, but that’s not going to stop us. This Golden Globes red carpet is certainly more than enough of a reason to add a few metallic silver pieces to our own closets this year—especially since we’ve already embraced the metallic-silver manicure. Which is just one of many ways for those of us without a red carpet event in our immediate futures to embrace the new silver trend.

Silver embellishments can add a little bit of New Year’s Eve energy to accessories, shoes, and clothing alike, which everyone needs when heading into the drearier winter months. And as we’ve all seen, metallic silver looks amazing on a dress—we maybe just wouldn’t recommend this for wedding season.
