The 24 Most Anticipated TV Shows of 2026


From the return of Bridgerton to the premiere of Margo's Got Money Troubles, here's everything new and returning to make the new year a little bit brighter.

With the longest—and usually coldest—month of the year upon us, let's look on the bright side: the most-anticipated TV shows of 2026 are getting closer by the day. First up, the sophomore season of the Emmy-winning and beloved medical drama, The Pitt, on HBO Max, followed by Netflix's Bridgerton and Apple TV's Shrinking later in January. Then there's the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, which will will take over NBC/Peacock from February 6-22.

Meanwhile, Outlander's final season on Starz will return this March, followed by Jon Hamm, Olivia Munn, and Amanda Peet in the second season of Apple TV's Your Friends & Neighbors in April. We'll also get new seasons of Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias, though Netflix has yet to reveal exact premiere dates. Same for Nobody Wants This season three.

The Pitt (HBO Max)

Thursday, January 8: The Emmy-winning drama is back! In case you're just now catching up, The Pitt follows a group of doctors at a Pittsburgh teaching hospital as they experience the daily surprises of an emergency department. Emmy winner Noah Wyle plays Dr. Michael Robinavitch (a.k.a. Dr. Robby), the beloved senior attending physician, along with fellow costars Patrick Ball (Dr. Langdon), Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans), Supriya Ganesh (Dr. Mohan), Fiona Dourif (Dr. McKay), Taylor Dearden (Dr. King), Isa Briones (Dr. Santos), Gerran Howell (Whitaker), Shabana Azeez (Javadi), Sepideh Moafi (Dr. Al-Hashimi). Season one took place over Labor Day, and season two will occur over 15 hours on the Fourth of July. Streaming weekly on Thursdays on HBO Max

The Traitors (Peacock)

Thursday, January 8: Season four is poised to be the best one yet. Why? Well, let's look at the cast list: Donna Kelce (Travis and Jason's mom; Taylor's future mother-in-law), Olympic figure skaters and NBC commentators Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski, Dancing with the Stars pro Mark Ballas, The Bachelor's Colton Underwood, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills's Lisa Rinna, The Real Housewives of New York City's Dorinda Medley, Top Chef host Kristen Kish, Love Island USA's Rob Rausch, Survivor's Rob Cesternino, The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Porsha Williams, and more. And of course, the one and only Alan Cumming is back to host. The first three episodes drop at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Peacock on Thursday, January 8, followed by two episodes on Thursday, January 15, and one new episode weekly through the finale and reunion event on February 26

Ponies (Peacock)

Thursday, January 15: Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Haley Lu Richardson (The White Lotus) lead this new eight-episode espionage thriller set in Moscow, 1977. They play two “PONIES” ("persons of no interest" in intelligence speak) who work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operatives. Bea (Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants and Twila (Richardson) is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless. Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place. Streaming

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (HBO Max)

Sunday, January 18: This original half-hour, six-episode drama series is based in the world of Westeros a century before the events of Game of Thrones, where two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends. 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and streaming on HBO Max, with new episodes airing every Sunday at the same time

Shrinking (Apple TV)

Wednesday, January 28: The 11-episode Emmy-nominated series returns for season three with special guest star Michael J. Fox, who will interact with Harrison Ford's character, Paul. Cobie Smulders, Brett Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., and Wendie Malick will also return, in addition to Jeff Daniels, who plays Jason Segel's dad on the show. Returning series cast members include Jessica Williams, Lukita Maxwell, Christa Miller, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie, and Ted McGinley. The one-hour premiere episode streams Wednesday, January 28, followed by one new episode weekly on Wednesdays

Monday, February 23: Shailene Woodley joins Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown for the hit drama's second season. Here's what we know: Xavier searches for Teri out in the world and learns how people survived the three years since The Day. Back in Paradise, the social fabric frays as the bunker deals with the aftermath of season one, and new secrets are uncovered about the city's origins. McGinley will guest star as Carla and Dr. Perry Cox, respectively. J.D. and Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time. Margo’s Got Money Troubles (Apple TV)

Wednesday, April 15: The eight-episode dark comedy stars Emmy-nominee Elle Fanning and Oscar- and Emmy-nominee Michelle Pfeiffer. The series follows recent college dropout and aspiring writer, Margo (Fanning), the daughter of an ex-Hooter’s waitress (Pfeiffer) and ex-pro wrestler (Nick Offerman) as she’s forced to make her way with a new baby, a mounting pile of bills, and a dwindling amount of ways to pay them. The series also stars Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden, Oscar and Emmy nominee Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty, and Lindsey Normington. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe (HBO Max)

Sometime in 2026: The Big Bang Theory spin-off, which will focus on comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) will air later in 2026. He'll reunite with Big Bang co-stars Lauren Lapkus (Denise), Brian Posehn (Bert), and John Ross Bowie (Kripke), plus some fun surprise guests along the way. Here's the official description for the single camera series: “Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke. Dancing with the Stars (ABC/Disney+)

Fall 2026: While a new season hasn't officially been announced yet, it's almost 99.9% certain it will return, especially after the success of the 20th anniversary iteration. Unless Disney decides to bring the dance competition back for a twice yearly installment, expect the next new season to premiere in September.
