Get ready to say bonjour to The White Lotus season four.
White Lotus fans didn’t have to wait until the end of season three for a renewal notice, as HBO confirmed season four back on January 22, 2025. “Good news travels fast,” the show’s social media team captioned their Instagram announcement at the time. “#TheWhiteLotus is excited to welcome you to a new destination.”

What does that mean? At some point, a new group of out-of-touch tourists will check into a stunning White Lotus resort for a bit of rest and relaxation, only to leave worse for wear…if they return at all. That sucks for them but is great for viewers, who will spend weeks sharing ridiculous fan theories, quoting the most outrageous characters, and maybe even booking their own vacation in whatever gorgeous location the next season is set. “Piper, no!” Piper, yes!
Here are all the details we’re keeping track of heading into The White Lotus season four, from release date to location and casting announcements. Oh, and an important update on the iconic “ooh-loo-loo-loos” missing from the season three theme song.
Because the Easter egg hunt is half the fun.

When does The White Lotus season four premiere?
Season one aired in July 2021, while season two premiered in October 2022. That was a much shorter wait than the 29-month break between seasons two and three, which were delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Now it seems the two-year curse may hit season four as well.
According to Variety’s most recent report in January 2026, filming is set to begin at the end of April and continue through the end of October. White Lotus creator Mike White is reportedly still working on the scripts, which makes sense given that he returned to Survivor for their 50th season, which was filmed this past summer and will begin airing in February.
Where will season four take place?
After kicking things off in Hawaii, White took his team to Sicily for season two and Thailand for season three. “My dream would be to hit every continent,” White said during a visit to Australia in June 2023, per Deadline.
In February, White made it known that he wasn’t interested in heading back to Europe for season four. “Where we choose to go next could be hugely impactful [to that locale],” White told The Hollywood Reporter in April. “That’s why it was so cool to shoot in Thailand. It’s hard to go backward. Like, Oh, we’ll do it in Paris! That feels like a cop-out.”
It looks like White changed his mind, however, because Deadline reported on September 4 that the show is, in fact, returning to Europe—France, specifically. At the time, there was some speculation that filming will take place at the Four Seasons’ Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera, given The White Lotus’s marketing relationship with the hotel company.
The star talks with Glamour about Chelsea and Rick’s backstory (including a not-so-meet-cute in Cabo), her character’s “controversial” fate in the finale, and why she’s a little tired of the intense fan fixation on her appearance.

Now it seems the French Riviera will be the official destination for season four, but filming will take place at the Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez on the Côte d’Azur, per Variety’s exclusive report on January 9, 2026.
According to Variety, the 19th-century palace turned luxury hotel is “set within 32 acres of parasol pines, cypress trees, and jasmine.” While there is “beach access by Rolls-Royce transfer,” White has previously stated that he’s looking to “get a little bit out of the ‘crashing waves against rocks’ vernacular” for the next season.
What is season four about?
In November 2024, HBO CEO Casey Bloys revealed that White pitched the concept for season four while filming the third installment in Thailand. That’s all we know for sure at the moment, though Variety sources claim Cannes Film Festival could play a part in the storyline.
Who is in the new cast?
With a few notable exceptions, The White Lotus features a brand-new cast of characters every season. In December 2025, Variety revealed the first two names: Alexander Ludwig (Vikings) and AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs).
Which old cast members will return in season four?
No familiar faces have been confirmed, but it’s worth noting that Jon Gries has played Greg in all three seasons of The White Lotus. Of course, he’s been going by “Gary” in Thailand following the death of his wife, Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge), in season two.
Coolidge herself starred in the first two seasons (taking home two Emmys in the process), while Natasha Rothwell starred as Belinda in seasons one and three.
During an April interview with THR, White said he’d “love” to make an “all-star season” of The White Lotus. Patrick Schwarzenegger, who played Saxon Ratliff in season three, supported the idea of getting “all the douche guys in one hotel together.”
“Mike said that one day when we were on set,” Schwarzenegger added. “He was like, ‘Oh my God, it’d be so good to get you, Jake Lacy, and Theo James in the same room.’”
Lacy played honeymooner from hell Shane Patton in season one, while James played cheating husband Cameron Sullivan in season two. Of course, bringing back Lacy could mark the return of Molly Shannon, who played Shane’s honeymoon-crashing mother, Kitty.
“Maybe Molly Shannon’s character and Victoria Ratliff know each other? There are so many connections between all these awful people,” added Bloys.
The White Lotus star and first-ever U Beauty global ambassador chats about her costar group chat, what her character’s intentions are, and the “explosive” season finale.

What’s going on with The White Lotus season four theme song?
Forget the girls’ trip trio! The real season three feud was between White and composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, who will not be returning for season four. He did, however, drop an extended version of the season three theme song including all the “ooh-loo-loo-loos” fans missed so much. You can read all about their creative differences here.
