It’s been a summer of truly innovative nail trends, but Sarah Hyland’s latest manicure might take the cake. Joining the ranks of rose-water nails, sparkling-rosé nails, and guava-glazed nails, Hyland’s new “jade nails” are like jewelry for just your fingernails. Forget any rings or bracelets—you’ll be sufficiently dressed up in this shiny mani reminiscent of the precious gemstone.

On Instagram, nail artist Zola Ganzorigt shared Hyland’s look, which is honestly a work of art. The color is a pearlescent pale green that catches the light and gives the nails a shiny polished effect. For the shape, Ganzorigt created a long almond nail and opted for no nail art. Simplicity at its finest.

Ganzorigt didn’t share the exact nail polish she used, but judging from the reflective shine, we can safely assume she used a magnetized cat-eye gel formula. Our best guess? The World Astral Gel Couture from Aprés Nails, a professional nail polish brand and celeb nail artist go-to.

Cat-eye nails or velvet nails use magnetic particles to get that other-worldly shimmer effect. As L.A. Nails Studio founder Apple previously told Glamour, all you need is a little scientific magic.

“[Cat-eye] mimics the magnetic field and pushes the metal particles, which gives it the famous cat-eye look,” explains Apple. Using a magnet allows you to “manipulate the particles to the desired placement.” Once you get the desired look, the gel nails are cured under a UV lamp to set the design.

Want to get jade nails at home? Apple says it’s possible to DIY. “You can definitely do it at home,” she adds. If you already know how to use a gel lamp, all you need is the special magnetic polish and nail magnet, which you can pick up from Amazon.
